iQmetrix creates ‘iQ Forest’ to offset carbon footprint

VANCOUVER, BC – April 22, 2013 – Today, in recognition of Earth Day, iQmetrix is pleased to announce the creation of its very own “iQ Forest,” in partnership with the Peace River, Alta.-based company, The Carbon Farmer. The iQ Forest consists of 240 trees, representing one tree for every iQmetrix employee.

The iQ Forest occupies nearly 1,400 square metres of new forest. The iQ Forest is also expandable – employees, friends and partner companies can purchase trees to be planted on an ongoing basis.

“We’re very excited about our new iQ Forest,” says iQmetrix President and CEO Christopher Krywulak. “One of our company’s core values is ‘Environment,’ and being able to offset our carbon footprint while restoring a portion of Canada’s beautiful forests was a great fit for iQmetrix. That, and we also get to support an innovative Canadian company in the process. It’s a big win altogether.”

The iQ Forest is an initiative led by the “iQ Green Team,” a number of iQmetrix employees that go out of their way to help make the company as environmentally friendly as possible.

Last fall, members of the iQ Green Team saw The Carbon Farmer’s pitch on CBC’s Dragon’s Den and thought it would be good way to purchase carbon credits for iQmetrix. Earlier this year, iQmetrix became a Climate Smart-certified company and in doing so, calculated the amount of emissions generated by employee travel and running the Vancouver head office (emission totals for the other offices – in Regina, Winnipeg and Davidson, NC – are still pending). In addition to creating the iQ Forest, iQmetrix purchased 52 tons of carbon credits to offset its known annual CO2 emissions in full.

“We plan to continue working with The Carbon Farmer to purchase additional trees and grow our iQ Forest, so that we can offset all of our company’s emissions in the future,” Krywulak adds.

Branham300 ranks iQmetrix #13 among Canadian Software Companies

VANCOUVER, BC – April 23, 2013 – The Branham Group has ranked iQmetrix as the 13th most profitable software company in Canada for 2012 and #5 among Canadian Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) companies.

XQ Browse for iPad Officially Available via the Apple App Store

XQ Browse for iPad is a tablet version of XQ Browse, which typically functions on large mounted touchscreens within a retail store. iQmetrix Launches New Sprint Carrier Integration

iQmetrix's new RQ integration with Sprint introduces a number of features to help Sprint retailers increase efficiency and data accuracy at the point of sale.

iQmetrix POS Software Saves Millions for Mo's Mobiles

SYDNEY, NSW – August 20, 2014 – iQmetrix today released a case study for Mo’s Mobiles, which has been using iQmetrix’s award-winning RQ Retail Management system for the past two years and seen significant business gains. Mo’s Mobiles, a 67-location Vodafone retailer based in Sydney, discovered iQmetrix and its RQ point-of-sale (POS) software product in 2012, while researching industry software providers online. iQmetrix was not operating outside of North America at the time, so the business venture was a leap of faith for both parties.

According to Mo’s co-owner Tim Levy, the venture has been fruitful. “RQ is designed specifically for our industry and the amount of administrative processing we do has plummeted. As a result, our company has generated millions of dollars of margin improvements in mobile phone sales commissions, stock and cash management, as well as inventory management.”

iQmetrix Awards 2014 'Females in Technology' Scholarship to Jennifer Cabral

WINNIPEG, MB - Nov. 12, 2014 - iQmetrix was pleased to present its first-ever Females in Technology Scholarship to 2014 recipient Jennifer Cabral on Saturday, Nov. 8, as part of a Girls Learning Code event in Winnipeg.

Jennifer, a 2nd-year Computer Science student at the University of Manitoba, won the $2,500 scholarship by writing an essay answering the question: How to Get More Women Interested in Computer Science. Read Jennifer's winning essay

The iQmetrix Females in Technology (FIT) committee selected Jennifer because her essay outlined meaningful and actionable ways to increase girls' and women's interest in computer science, says iQmetrix FIT co-founder Melissa Kendall (pictured above-left, with Jennifer).

"A lot of Jennifer's suggestions were things we, as a group, were trying to do," says Kendall. "In some cases, Jennifer suggested things we were already doing, like the Girls Learning Code event we hosted on Saturday. We felt it made sense to present Jennifer with the scholarship at the event, because we consider her a great role model for the girls in attendance, and for any girl interested in a career in technology.

"On behalf of the FIT committee and iQmetrix as a whole we would like to congratulate Jennifer and wish her the best in her career."

Founded in 2013, iQmetrix FIT is devoted to seeking opportunities to support women in technology and assisting in (or creating) opportunities to promote females in technology. The group is also committed to promoting Computer Science to all youth. iQmetrix FIT has six members (3 women; 3 men) out of iQmetrix's Winnipeg office.
